With the new local elections scheduled for June 9, 2024, Adriene Ghene, the incumbent mayor of Nanov, will run for a new mandate under the sign of the PNL. In an interview for “Liber în Teleorman”, Ghene discussed his current term’s achievements and his future vision regarding the commune.
Achievements of the current mandate
There have been many infrastructural and public service changes experienced in Nanov during the period of Adriene Ghene’s reign as mayor. His administration has been able to overcome much from the administrative challenges to the stance of doubt towards the better. Regardless of these challenges, the leadership of Ghene has made the commune place much better.
Road Infrastructure and Transportation
Notable among these successes is the rehabilitation of Nanov’s road network. In this regard, Ghene has overseed the overhauling, asphalting, and modernization of numerous roads like Libertății, Succesului, and Progresului, main streets in the area. The modernization extends to the neighboring streets of Bujorului, Armoniei, and Mecanicilor. In addition to that, 11 new modern bus stations have been installed, which offer 16 round trips a day to Alexandria.
Water and Sewerage Network
On water and sewage systems, Ghenes’s administration has taken giant strides in developing Nanov. The water supply system was extended with a new ring network on Agricultori Street; with major extensions on the streets of Grădinilor and Aleea Mănăstirii, all complemented with the rehabilitation of the sewerage network in Adămești and 3,700 meters of new meters of pipes, the overall sewerage system reaching 14.3 kilometers, with 150 new households connected.
Public Lighting and Safety
With the aim of improving visibility and safety, the local government has installed 530 new LED lights to replace old lamps and has equipped the commune with 80 new surveillance cameras. The facelift also includes new installations of 40 LED lamps in the three local cemeteries, in addition to a new dispatch center within the town hall.
Educational and Recreational Facilities
Ghene administration has embarked on modernity at all capacities,I nthe educational and recreational facilities. Rehabilitation works were undertaken at local sports ground and stadium and other areas while schools and kindergartens had their playgrounds renovated. Implementation and updating of the Local Sports Club in 2021 were done together with numerous renovations of almost all the churches in the given community makes life in Nanov more complete.
Digital equipment
These are by the equipment, at the level of mandate, during Ghene’s, when it also purchased a multifunctional machine “VIDANJĂ”, a lawnmower tractor based on European grants. It implemented, among others, a national system of digital payment, GHIȘEUL.RO, which contributed to easier access to the services of the commune :
Adriene Ghene runs for mayor to be re-elected, promising to continue the development of Nanov. He aims to continue the gas network, modernize more streets, and expand the water and sewerage infrastructure by another 22 kilometers. The new recreational area is also on the schedule, with rehabilitation interventions at the level of local health units and also at schools, in the aims of equipping them at the highest level of technology and energy with renewable systems.

Ghene says the real need is a National Liberal Party which will support local development through good public policies and calculated, strategic investments. The fact that PNL support has been very instrumental in securing European and national funds for much of the development projects in Nanov is not lost on the candidate. Ghene sees that continued support from a stable government can maintain and accelerate the progress made.
Issued to Voters
Ghenne invites all mandated voters to work into enabling his reelection to have the transformation that he started in Nanov in making it a modern and richly endowed commune realized. He assures voters that he will finish all the ongoing works, initiate others that will be for the benefit of the community for generations that will come. The work of Ghene in infrastructure, education, and public health reflects the vision for the future prosperity of Nanov.
