Early Life and Education
Dara Huang was born in the United States to a Chinese-American family. Her father, Po-Tien Huang, was an immigrant to the United States and later worked as a scientist for NASA. Dara’s multicultural upbringing exposed her to Eastern and Western influences that she incorporated into her designs. She was taught early to follow her passions and was inspired by her father’s work ethic.
Dara studied architecture at Harvard. This prestigious education prepared set the foundation for her career and gave her the skills and knowledge she needed to succeed in the competitive world of design. Career in Architecture and Design
After completing her education, Dara started her career in architecture and design, working for firms like Herzog & de Meuron in Switzerland and Foster + Partners in London. These roles gave her experience working on large-scale projects alongside industry leaders. Dara was involved in some remarkable projects, including the Tate Modern Museum in London, one of the most iconic art spaces in the world.
Dara later set up her own design company in London in 2013 called Design Haus Liberty (DHL). Her firm creates functional spaces that reflect her unique style. She has led Design Haus Liberty on several projects ranging from luxury residences to commercial spaces. Dara’s designs combine elegance with sustainability. Her work has been awarded and her firm has had its designs in numerous publications and exhibitions.
Personal Life
Dara’s personal life was exposed to the public when she married British property developer and entrepreneur, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The couple had a son in 2016 named Christopher “Wolfie” Woolf. But Dara and Edoardo split up eventually and he married Princess Beatrice in 2020. Even after their breakup, Dara has kept a positive outlook on her career and son.
Dara is a proud mother who posts moments with her son on social media. She’s shown strength and resilience in balancing her career with motherhood while achieving professional success.
