Ne-Yo is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer and actor of Pop/RNB who has a net worth of $9 million. He first managed to enter the field of the music through songwriting capabilities. Ne-Yo then proceeded to erect his own high-profile career as a performer in his own right.
Early Life
Known for his creativity Ne-Yo citizenship is American and his real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith. He was born on 18th October 1979. Born and brought up in Camden; Smith parents worked in the musical field, and music was natural for him.
Ne Yo was an only child and was mostly raised by his mother after his father decided to abandon the family. At that young age, he moved to Las Vegas after they family moved to town in search of better jobs for his mother.
Career
Smith himself joined the Las Vegas Academy for the Arts and he decided to perform under the name GoGo. This was a high school for the arts and to get in Smith had to go for an audition. While in this high school, he was a member of an R&B group, Envy.
The group was quite cohort and had sept occasions that were featured on television. Subsequently, after one famous performance on MTV, the Envy disbanded in the Turn of the year 2000. After the graduation, Smith dedicated much time to songwriting.
Ne-Yo debuted with his first album In My Own Words in the year 2006. Debuting for Def Jam Records the album includes “So Sick” and “When You’re Mad.” The album eventually reached platinum. He cashed in on this initial success with a follow-up album within the next one year.
Because of You did even better and soared to the first place on the Billboard Top 200 list. “Because of You,” fared especially well – while the other songs that made up the album were not really hit productions. Nevertheless, the album rose to platinum status somewhere in the future.
He spent 2011 touring the UK before booking a major role in 2011’s Battle: Wilmer and another in a George Lucas movie titled Red Tails in 2012. Ne-Yo further went on working on his song writing obsession by composing songs for artists like Jennifer Hudson and Alexis Jordan.
Songwriting Phase
One of the initial artists Columbia signed was Ne-Yo but fired the artist later. By 2003, Ne-Yo already had all his songs that he wanted to include in his first album done and recorded. Re-focusing on music, “That Girl” was later included in the MH album, the first of Houston’s discography.
Further Ventures
Besides the films described earlier, Ne-Yo has acted in a number of televisions programs. One of his most notable roles was as a hitman in CSI: NEW YORK. He has also been a judge for things like the reality dance competition called World of Dance. Ne-Yo began working in 2011, to create a new animated series called I Heart Tuesday for the cartoon network.
